Food for thought. – Mystic Mondays

Just as the usual teenager would do on a Sunday evening, I was scrolling down on my Facebook newsfeed and I came across this post. It gave me a lot to think about. So i took it as my duty to do the same.

“On his death bed, Alexander the Great summoned his generals and told them his three ultimate wishes:

1. The best doctors should carry his coffin.

2. The wealth he has accumulated (money, gold, precious stones) should be scattered along the procession to the cemetery; and

3. His hands should be outside the coffin for all to see!

One of his generals, who was surprised by these unusual requests and he therefore asked Alexander to explain.
Here is what Alexander had to say:

1. I want the best doctors to carry my coffin to demonstrate that, in the face of death, even the best doctors in the world have no power to heal.

2. I want the road to be covered with my treasure so that everybody sees that material wealth acquired on Earth, stays on Earth.

3. I want my hands to swing in the wind, so that people will understand that we come to this world empty handed and we leave empty handed after the most precious treasure of all is exhausted and that is TIME. “

Have a great day and week ahead.

Spotlight Thursdays: Coco. D.

We all know that one person who can talk forever and ever but yet they never get short of interesting things to say, well i do. You may know him as Coco, others as Rasta. Coco’s birth name is  Dominico (yes ladies, am feeling that name too) Ngori and he was born on December 13th in a family of six and him being the only boy. It doesn’t really matter where he’s from, after all we’re all one, but if your curiosity is still killing you, Coco’s mixed race (Caribbean and African).  Coco loves meeting new people, road trips (WHOOP WHOOP), gyming, family time, movies and obviously music.

Coco used to talk a lot so his friend told him to try radio out and thanks to Jah it worked out for him, this was around 3-4 years ago, he doesn’t really have a favorite genre of music (music is one language anyway)  but he enjoys Reggae and Afro-house music. Personally, when talking to Coco I can always feel and sense the positive vibe and will to socialize and help the youth out in whatever small way he can in his voice, themes like Magic Monday, Turn it up Tuesdays, Matunda Wednesdays, Old Skool Thursdays and Club 96 on Fridays where Dj’s come in and showcase their talent on the show, all came from suggestions of loyal fans who tune in and listen to Hot 96.   Apart from being a radio host, Rasta is also an MC, does photography and is part of Electrafrique, a band that that plays house music fused with bongos, drums, percussion e.t.c

For the ladies…(ehem haha) Rasta is single, is a Sagittarius, he digs natural women and who can dance, too much make-up, unhygienic women, fake people and women who can’t handle their liquor are a turn off and get to his nerves.  He’s a pure and devoted Rastafarian, Coco’s got piercings as well (bad man eh?) but due to having a career that always requires a professional look he has to take them off, (radio is a serious career just like piloting or being a doctor).

30 years from now, Coco probably sees himself on his own Island, living in his cottage with two baby lions and a beautiful Empress (Wife) by his side.

“I believe in the youth, I love talking to the youth especially in relations to drugs, sex & Alcohol”

Show this gentleman some love and follow Coco on twitter @SixxCoco | Like his band’s  facebook page  and not forgetting the hottest radio show

AAAAAANNNND don’t forget to tune into Hot 96 (96.0) every week from Monday to Friday from 9pm till 12am to listen to Coco and enjoy music that always make me personally want to start a house party. (Yea its that hot!)

Mystic Mondays: Girls, Girls, Girls.

HHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOO Beautiful people,Good Morning!!!. Ok for those who are wondering, no am not high, no am not overly hyper, am just trying to uplift your mood on a Monday. Mission impossible? Well, its my task.

Girl, So he called you fat? So he told you join the dots with the pimples on your face? So he called you an ugly brace-face? So they ganged up on you because you were too short? So they called you a nerd? So they left you out because you were too tall? So they didn’t want to hang out with you because you still have a flip phone? The list is endless but I can only give you one piece of advice. DON’T LET THEM GET TO YOU.

In this generation of extremely skinny and/or sexy female celebs, our beautiful girls tend to be very insecure. That is a fact. I don’t remember on which site I was on but I came across this article, whereby, a girl starved and eventually ended up committing suicide because she felt (was insecure) that her boyfriend (and social society) didn’t like her pictures on Facebook. I asked myself, WWWWWHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYY?

Girls they may point out you’re flaws, e.g you’ve got a little meat on you, you’ve got braces (which there’s nothing wrong, I’ve got braces), all these but your flaws are what make you imperfectly perfect. Those freckles on your cheek make you look cute, you being a nerd even makes you more beautiful, guys love smart girls, and that little meat you’ve got on you is just extra beauty. Kill your insecurities by saying am imperfectly perfect, and someone somewhere on this planet Earth dreams and even prays to meet a girl like me every night. DON”T LET THEM GET TO YOU.

If you want to get some attention on social media to kill your insecurities, DON’T post half naked pictures of you, No.Instead, perhaps take a picture of that art work you did and you got an A+ on it, never know you might be the next Pi casa. If you want to shed off that little extra meat you have, DON’T starve yourself, simple eat healthy and workout a bit or do after school activities. Finally if you want to make your boyfriend proud, Be Yourself, and if he tries to specifically change everything about you, (advising you on something is different)  that is not love. Love is accepting one for who they are, physically, mentally and emotionally.

I could go on and on about this but you get the message already. DON’T LET THEM GET TO YOU. The only reason they’re trying to bring you down is because they see a spark in you that will never be shut, they fear that.  Have a pleasant one. 🙂

I ask that may you reach out your almighty and healing hand to those who have been injured or worse shot, that they may have the strength to remain as strong to survive this ordeal. I also request that you may provide eternal peace for all those who were not able to make it and that all families, friends, acquaintances may have all the emotional strength needed to overcome their losses.

Mystic Mondays: What if ?

It being a Monday, (yes that day that when you wake up and realize a new week has started, your hangover has not faded off completely, your uncomplete assignment is due first thing in the morning, you’ve woken up late and your boss will shout and scream and destroy your eardrums, yes its that day.)  I feel    I know it’s my part of my responsibility to turn all these negative vibes that poor Monday has to carry to positive ones so that yo start your week like a super hero. Feel me?

When driving to work, am sure you’ve ever had that thought of what if this Probox or Toyota corolla was a Maybach with a nice classic interior design with the color white?  thinking of all these as let’s say some Ray Charles is playing in the background. What if i was Steve Jobs? would i use an apple or an orange? mhhm…What if i was more muscular with 6 abs? would all the ladies rain on me? (like Trey Songz eh?)

What if we YOU stop saying what if and say from today henceforth, I am going to    I WILL hustle until everyone knows my name, I am going to  I WILL be so committed to my work until my boss promotes me, I am going to  I WILL study hard until my mother and father smile when they see my report, I WILL thank the Lord everyday because i know he has given me all the abilities i need to will.

In whatever you’re doing now, pause, in your mind or aloud, say the following;

One day I WILL rule the world, maybe not this world, but MY world and in MY world everybody in it can, because the Almighty Lord has given me the strength to and I WILL not fail him. Amen

Have a good day.

Dad, Daddy, Daddddyyyy!!!! “What?” I LOVE YOU.

Ola? haha how are you?? Your day so far? Yes, yes I know, keep up with the hustle.

Yesterday was Fathers Day and I just couldn’t help it but blog about fathers day, although it was yesterday, but hey! gotta bend the rules at one point… Right??

I remember when I was young I used to call my dad “Fathe”, yea exactly how i’ve spelt it is how you pronounce it. He was the greatest most biggest hero in my eyes. I remember one day I asked him, fathe, you’re so strong how come you’re not superman? he told me, “I’m superman in my own way, I wouldn’t want to take away someone’s job from their hands, that’s mean” I never really got to understand that sentence until today…

Sorry but I just had to share that little moment I had with my dad, it was one of the most unforgettable moments in my life. So without any further ado I would like to appreciate and salute all fathers around this beautiful planet (and outside if any) without you all gentlemen would still be boys, women would still be little girls .

Did you do anything special for your father yesterday? if so, share with me and let’s get to see how awesome of a person I know you are. Jah bless.
